Garden Hose

Sprays of pleasure

A hosepipe or a garden is used for watering your plants in your lawn or garden. The common attachments that come with hosepipes are sprinklers and sprayers. The regular color that is available is green though a huge number of colors are also available. A garden hose is a very important component of the outdoor toolbox that you possess. It is with the help of one equipment with which you can fill the birdbath, water your flowerbeds, and also play with the kids.

Types of hoses

The types of hoses available are Anaconda Coils, which is the most innovative durable and practical coiled hoses available. It is made from the best quality of polyether base polyurethane. It lasts for five to ten years and comes with UV protection. Other coiled hoses are often made of inferior grades of plastic. These degrade faster due to the quality of water and exposure to all types of weather.

Flat gardening hose with reel is kept in its own easy winding reel. Because this nylon hose is tightly woven the scope of snags is reduced to a great extent. It can be attached to any faucet and can be hung on walls or kept in a drawer.

The common terms

Garden hoses often come with confusing terminology and it makes it all the more difficult to salvage the information. Here are some terminologies that will help to decipher them easily.

Materials - Vinyl based hoses are less costly, light, easy to carry and can be used with ease. Rubber is another material that is used to make garden hoses. These are more durable and are therefore more expensive than the ordinary varieties of hoses available. Rubber hoses can withstand a very high temperature and so are less likely to burst or kink.

Ply - the word means layers. In the case of hoses the more the number of plies the more is the strength. Household plies have a ply range of one to six.

Sizes - the rate of water delivery is obviously dependent on the diameter. The more the diameter the better is the rate of water delivery. ¾ to 5/8 inches are the varieties available. The lengths of hosepipes are sold in increments of 25 feet. The pressure diminishes with the increasing length so remember to buy only that much that is required and not more. If you really need a long hose you can combine two shorter ones. If there are two spigots you can put each hose at each water source.

Coupling - Coupling is the point where the hose is attached to the water supply. This coupling can be made of either plastic or brass. Brass is more durable but tightening the spigot becomes a great problem, as brass requires a lot of strength to handle it. An ergonomically shaped plastic coupling would be a better alternative than brass.

Some special hoses

Boat, marine or recreational hoses - these hoses have a safe plastic lining that aids in drinking water from this. The components that are used in making this type of hoses are safe for water transmission unlike the other varieties available.

Sprinkler and soaker hoses are have been made for irrigating lawns and gardens. They are placed on the ground and they have holes on one the sides with sprays rising upwards. This hose gives small amounts of water into the roots and prevents wastage.

Flat hoses expand to its maximum size when the water is turned on and becomes flattened when not being put to use.

Commercial hoses - these are specially designed for continuous heavy duty and hot water use.

Protecting your garden hose from direct sunlight and the UV rays, storing it properly and keeping it away from the inclement weather will give you good service.
