One of the most functional rooms you will ever need would probably be your
kitchen. This is where you will be doing most of your meals and snacks for more
than just three times a day. The kitchen has been a room present in almost all
cultures, countries and times. So when it comes to putting up your own kitchen,
you must determine factors such as the size of your family, the size of your
home and even the theme you would like to incorporate with it. Making your
kitchen look presentable and neat does not only cover the aesthetic value but
also develops inspiration and orderliness with all the dishes you will be
making. So when it comes to kitchen decor, one should consider this with proper
thought and of course, inspiration.
Kitchen decor, like any other decors come in all sorts of types, sizes,
textures and of course, price. When settling to decorate your kitchen, you must
first put into mind what your kitchen needs and what you need. If you think your
kitchen is untidy and makes cooking a very tiresome task, then maybe you should
address the issues of storage and functionality. If your kitchen is dark and
your family would rather eat in front of the television rather than dine in your
counter or table, then maybe you should address the lighting and probably the
layout, the appliances you use and the decorations you have set up before.
Before doing all these, you must remember and fully understand the use of your
kitchen. By doing so, you will not have to spend for unnecessary decors or
fixtures. And with understanding and coming to terms with your kitchen,
decorating will not be a worrisome task but an enjoyable one instead.
There are built in kitchens that can be purchased in your local furniture
stores like IKEA. Some even sell free standing kitchen islands, countertops in
various finishes and cabinets that are available in gorgeous textures and
colors. First you have to determine the theme of your kitchen. Some kitchens
have the Mediterranean look; white finishes that have that almost concrete feel
that are accentuated with bright colors that are found in your dishes, vases or
drapes. Some kitchens have the wooden feel, relishing its cabinetry in rich oaks
or any wood of your choice. Determining your theme will make you think about the
kind of lifestyle you lead, or that dream kitchen you saw on your favorite home
network channel. It’s really all up to you. After you have thought of your
theme, try to set your budget. Remember that there are so many choices and ways
to decorate your kitchen, or maybe any other room in your house, putting up a
budget for your project will help you limit your choices and make them wisely.
Once you have set up your budget, try making a timetable for your project.
Determine the days when you will clear out your existing kitchen and the days
that will be needed to construct or install your decors. Once you have done
these, you can start by laying out your plans and even sketches. Try to think of
what over-all color you would like to have for your kitchen. Remember that when
you pick your main color, it is not necessary you go all the way with your
chosen color. You can accent it with complimentary or secondary colors that may
come with your appliances, utensils or decors. Once you have set out your
cabinets with their proper finishes and laid your counters in their rightful
places, make decisions on where to apply decor. Your decor must not get in the
way of the activities that will be done in the kitchen. You can choose special
wallpapers or wall finishes that would highlight your cabinets. You also can
choose bright plates or utensils that could give accents and determine focal
points. Remember, decorating your kitchen is like expressing your personality,
make it unique, functional and fun.
